Only laser can permanently remove hair

Truth. Laser hair removalis the only method that can permanently remove hair. The fastest way to get rid of dark hair containing a large amount of pigment (melanin), is to destroy it from the inside by penetrating the hair with the Laser beam. The energy from the Laser beam is absorbed by the melanin in the cells of the hair follicle, which in turn is heated up. Over time, the process of heating up kills the hair follicle and renders further regeneration (growth of new hair) impossible.

During summer, laser hair removal procedures cannot be performed.

Myth. Laser hair removal treatments can be performed throughout the entire year, provided that you adhere to post-treatment recommendations. The laser beam emits a small amount of radiation that stays inside the skin for about 2 weeks. The most important thing is to not expose the parts of the body that have been subjected to the treatment to additional radiation (such as sunlight) as this may cause burns, edema or discoloration.

Myth. So far, a laser which would effectively remove blond, red or grey hair has not yet been invented. There are special lasers used to try to remove such types of hair, unfortunately they are not very effective, and the results are far from expectations.

Laser hair removal eliminates hair growth after 1st treatment

Myth. Usually, in order to permanently remove hair a cycle of 6 to 8 sessions performed at intervals of approximately 7 weeks is required. After each treatment session, initially the hair begins to grow normally, but after 2-3 weeks all (or almost all) of the hair simply falls out. After about 4 weeks new hair appears and another treatment session should be performed. Less and less new hair grows back, with each laser hair removal session, until the hair is finally unable to grow at all.

Number of treatments to be performed is an individual matter

Truth. Every organism is different, and the number of treatments depends on the structure, thickness and colour of the hair. Moreover, as the time goes by, it is possible to develop and grow completely new hair which may appear in completely new places for example on a woman’s face. Such new regrowth depends largely on a female hormones, and unfortunately the laser is not capable of removing the hair which are currently in the growth phase.

Laser hair removal results in skin irritation

Is IPL as effective as a diode laser?

Myth. The IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) is not a laser but a form of light therapy. It is widely known that IPL treatment is not as effective as Diode laser. Head to head studies show that IPL is generally not ideal for all skin types. Diode laser beam has specific, uniformed wavelength what allows to target hair individually, as it specifically traces hair pigment and thus leaves the surrounding skin unharmed. However, IPL uses multiple wavelengths which scatter across the entire exposed area instead of selectively targeting the hair, what in turn heats up the surrounding skin. The fact that IPL treatment is not hair selective typically makes the treatment more painful, than the treatment using a Diode laser. Moreover, it also renders IPL treatment less effective, the results are less visible from one session to another. Therefore, more treatment sessions, using an IPL method, need to be performed in order to achieve the same results as would be achieved by lower number of sessions with Diode laser. In addition, using IPL may damage or deform the hair bulbs which in consequence reduces the effectiveness of laser hair removal.

Home hair removal devices are just as effective as professional Laser hair removal devices found in beauty salon

Myth. Currently, the market offers multiple home use hair removal devices (mainly IPL devices) which are simply not as efficient or effective as professional lasers used for hair removal treatment in beauty salon. The Diode laser beam is characterised with single wavelength which acts selectively on the hair and destroys its internal structures. Devices made for home use are not Diode lasers, they are in general IPL devices using a dispersed beam of light which acts not only on the hair but also on the surrounding skin! As a result, they are less effective and typically hair removal is more painful than Diode laser treatment in a beauty salon.
